Senator Cory Booker took heat on social media over his vote against the Klobuchar Amendment, a largely symbolic amendment that would allow Americans to purchase cheaper prescription drugs from Canada.
Social Media can be a very harsh place. Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ) found this out today when he took considerable flack on Twitter and Facebook, over his vote against an amendment to urge the federal government to allow Americans to purchase cheaper prescription drugs from Canada.
Sure you are. This vote will matter in 2020. I'll make sure of it. https://t.co/8XG4pwCl9G

Sen. Booker, who typically uses Twitter and Facebook to post inspirational quotes and press releases, spent much of the afternoon defending his nay vote on Klobuchar Amendment No. 178 which was co-sponsored by Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT). The widely popular policy had bipartisan support including Yea votes from Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA). Fellow Democratic Senator from New Jersey, Bob Menendez, also voted against the amendment which failed 52-46.

Sen. Booker defended his vote stating that he didn’t feel the amendment ensured proper safety standards.
The notion that Canadian drugs are less safe than those produced in America has been echoed in the U.S. media in the past. The Washington Times back in August, ran an op-ed titled Danger in Drugs from Canada, authored by Peter Pitts. Lee Fang, while writing for ThinkProgress.org in 2009, penned an expose about Pitts’ outfit, the Center for Medicine in the Public Interest. CMPI was a leading group that resisted healthcare reform, according to Fang’s article.
That is pure BS and you know it. Canadian drugs are as safe as our own. Ridiculous excuse for lining your pockets

With Donald Trump merely days from officially becoming President of the United States and Congress set to repeal the Affordable Care Act, anxious liberal political observers are paying close attention to lawmakers’ actions. Even voting against a largely symbolic amendment, like the Klobucher Amendment, can cause the social media mob to turn against you and force you into damage control mode, as Sen. Booker learned today.
