KABUL, AFGHANISTAN, JANUARY 10TH 2017, LIMA CHARLIE NEWS WIRE

| Two explosions ripped through the Darulaman Road area, near the Parliament and the American University and Noor Hospital, during rush hour on Tuesday (DECEMBER 10TH). First explosion came from a suicide bomber (SBIED) and the follow up explosion came from a car bomb (VBIED) further up the road. The attacks appear coordinated. NDS is the primary foreign and domestic intelligence agency of the Afghan government.

The Taliban have claimed the attack, and that as many as 70 people were killed or wounded. Current reports are that at least 21 have been killed, with 45 wounded.

Earlier on Tuesday (DECEMBER 10TH) a similar attack killed at least 7 people in the Lashkar Gah, the capital of Helmand. The attack targeted a guesthouse where intelligence officers were staying. The killed include civilians as well as intelligence and military personnel. 6 others were wounded in the attack. Parked outside of the compound a vehicle which was found rigged with explosives was disabled by technicians.

No one has as of yet claimed the Helmand attack.
