Listen in on The Horse Race podcast, Episode 06: Special Edition, with veteran advocate Alexander McCoy.
|The Horse Race, sans Brendan McKinnon & Dan Webb, returns for a Special Edition, just after the team’s brilliant Clinton-Trump debate recap. In this episode 06, Lima Charlie News Senior Political Correspondent, veteran Michael Connolly, interviews US Marine Corps veteran & veteran advocate Alexander McCoy.
McCoy served 6 years in the Marine Corps, separating in 2013 at the rank of Sergeant. As a Marine, he deployed to Saudi Arabia, Honduras, and Germany in support of the US Department of State, where, among other assignments, he served to protect the lives and operations of DOS personnel, he provided analysis of the 2012 “Days of Rage” attacks on US Embassies, and was selected by the White House to support the US Secret Service in protection of President Barack Obama during his visit to Berlin in 2013.
Following his honorable discharge from the Marine Corps, and seeking to continue service to his country, McCoy has embarked on a new mission to support fellow veterans, serving as a tireless veteran advocate and activist. Among other organizations, McCoy is co-founder of High Ground Veterans Advocacy, a non-profit that trains veterans in the legislative process and to become grassroots activists, and which has led the fight to enact the Fairness for Veterans Act (HR.4683), as reported by Lima Charlie News.
McCoy is also co-founder of the Ivy League Veterans Council, a non-profit that is tasked “to study, address and resolve under-representation by U.S. military veterans in the student populations of elite academic institutions.”
As co-founder of Common Defense PAC, he is openly opposed to Donald Trump serving as Commander-in-Chief. McCoy has organized “Vets Vs Hate” and “Vets Against Trump,” anti-Trump rallies, gaining significant press and attention.
